FCHAIN Launches as an Avalanche Layer 1 to Power Faraway Gaming Ecosystem
The F Foundation, the entity providing support for protocols powering FCHAIN, today announced the impending launch of FCHAIN, a new Avalanche-powered Layer 1 (L1) blockchain that will fuel Faraway’s growing gaming ecosystem, which includes Shatterline, Villains: Robot Battle Royale, HV-MTL, Legends of the Mara, among other titles.
Faraway, the game developer and publisher founded by Glu Mobile and Scopely veterans, houses an interoperable gaming ecosystem that combines original IP, a robust developer platform, creator and commerce tools, and a portfolio of 9 games spanning a wide audience of players and player-owned content.
The mission of the F Foundation, the entity behind FCHAIN, is to support studios creating the next generation of games with open and interoperable economies. Building on this mission, the vision of creating a truly decentralized, purpose-built, gaming-focused blockchain is fully enabled by Avalanche’s forthcoming largest network upgrade, Avalanche9000.
While most gaming-focused blockchains today are built on Layer 2 (L2) or Layer 3 (L3) blockchains, owning and operating your own Layer 1 provides a significant advantage. The Avalanche9000 upgrade unlocks:
- Full control to customize the chain to your needs (staking economics, gas tokens, etc.)
- Open and permissionless validator sets to increase decentralization and decrease side effects from other ecosystems
- Regulatory compliance built in with geo-restrictions and custom permissions
- Scale with any virtual machine to maximize performance for all players regardless of network load
Avalanche L1s have been successfully deployed by Deloitte, DeFi Kingdoms, Gunzilla’s Off The Grid, MapleStory, Shrapnel, SK Planet and more.
Faraway’s support of FCHAIN will not only include integration into its growing portfolio of games, it will also incorporate its set of creator, commerce, and developer tools. These tools consist of its Creator Suite powering Dookey Dash: Unclogged’s Creator Mode, its Developer Platform leveraged by major game studios, and its Faraway Shop, a combined UGC Shop and secondary marketplace. Integration into Faraway’s platform will enable any game studio to quickly deploy on FCHAIN and build web3 functionality into their game without needing specialized blockchain knowledge or experience.
